The Great Botswin Baking Show
Very few co-curricular activities have caught my attention like this one has. I wanted to spend some time reflecting on the success of the “Great Botswin Baking Show”. This event was the brainchild of one of my Academic Peer Mentors for the CCIM Living-Learning Community, she was not even a CCIM major, but had a skill for coming up with creative and unique student engagement opportunities and never ceased to push herself into this work.
The idea of this was a pretty simple one, namely that students would connect and create an episode of The Great British Baking Show, but themed to the name of their Residence Hall, Botsford-Swinford Hall. The competition would be straightforward, a cupcake decorating contest, but the real learning would come with the camera operators and those who would edit together the information after the fact into something real and transferable.
